The Christopher D. Ray Memorial Foundation was formed in honor of Christopher Ray, a Southampton County deputy sheriff who lost his life in the line of duty on August 29, 2009. To honor his legacy, the CDR Memorial Foundation provides funding for initiatives that directly support the public safety community. Since 2009, the Foundation has provided numerous academic scholarships for students pursuing careers in public safety, many whom have gone on to serve.

The Foundation has also funded many other initiatives, such as acquiring and training K9’s for local law enforcement agencies, providing Christmas gifts for less fortunate families throughout their community, investment in local libraries, the formation of a public boat launch within the Town Courtland, funding to local senior care facilities during the COVID-19 outbreak, hosts annual river clean ups, and many others.

The Christopher D. Ray Memorial Foundation is determined to continue honoring Christopher’s legacy by supporting their local law enforcement and public safety community.
